Hazara activist rues years of limbo in UK

LONDON: Pakistani activist Liaquat Ali Hazara had his application for asylum in Britain turned down two years ago. He has been stuck in limbo since, afraid of being killed if he is sent back. The softly-spoken 37-year-old is a campaigner for the rights of Hazaras, who face persecution in Pakistan and Afghanistan. He arrived in Britain in 2005 but applied for asylum in 2012 after receiving threatening letters from the Taliban and Lashkar-e-Jhangvi.
